Manavjit Singh Sandhu is an Indian sport shooter who is active in the field since late 1990s. He is former World No.1 ranked Trap Shooter. He reached first position in the year 2006 and has stayed in rank 3 in 2010. He is a recipient of prestigious awards for sports – Arjuna Award and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award 2007. He holds the Asian Record of 124/125 Targets. He is born to Gurbir Singh Sandhu, a former player who is an Arjuna awardee and Olympian too. He won gold at ISSF World Shooting Championships in 2006 becoming the first Indian to make this achievement. Gold Medal at the World Cup 2014 held in USA is his recent win. Manavjit Singh Sandhu was born on 3 November 1976 in the village of Ratta Khera in the district of Firozpur, Punjab. His father Gurbir Singh is an Olympian. He schooled at Lawrence School, Sanawar and his college studies were completed at Delhi. He was drawn towards shooting since younger days and he was deeply influenced by his father, who is a shooter. He received initial training from his father. He is currently associated with Punjab Rifle Association.

Winner of several international events, he won four silver medals in Asian games in the years 1998, 2002 and 2006. He won the gold medal at Commonwealth Games 1998 and the bronze medal in the trap event at Commonwealth Games 2006. He also won six gold medals at the Asian Clay Shooting Championships. Though he has participated in Olympics thrice in 2004, 2008 and 2012, he couldn’t make any achievements. In 2010 he won gold at Commonwealth Shooting Championship and World Cup 2010 in Mexico.
