Kavita Raut is an Indian long-distance runner from Nashik, Maharashtra. She was born on May 5, 1985 in Nashik, Maharashtra, India. Her father's name is Ramdas and her mother's name is Sumitra. She did lots of hard works for her family like fetching water from the well on the hilly terrain and running barefoot which all made her a tough woman with great stamina to become an athlete. She is coached by Vijendra Singh. She got bronze at 2010 Commonwealth Games and this was the first individual track medal ever won by an Indian in Commonwealth Games after more than 50 years. She also won silver at the 10,000 meters race at the 2010 Asian Games and set new records in the 10 km road running at Sunfeast World 10K in Bangalore. She was quite disappointed when she could not qualify for the 2012 Olympics but was happy to be the receiver of the prestigious Arjuna Award in 2012 from the Government of India.
