Sree Narayana College, Alathur, affiliated to the University of Calicut, was established by the Sree Narayana Trusts in 1970 to fulfill the long felt need of the people of Alathur to have a full-fledged college to meet the rising demand for greater facilities in the field of higher education. The glorious venture of Sree Narayana Trusts and the initiative of philanthropists like Sri. K.C. Pazhanimala and Sri. C.V. Muthuvelan helped in tackling the major problem of higher education in backward places like Alathur. The College is situated at Erattakkulam on Thrissur – Palakkad national highway in Alathur thaluk, Palakkad district. It has a sprawling campus of 25 acres with green, serene environment that impart an added charm to this centre of learning. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an autonomous institution of the University Grants commission, evaluated and assessed the academic performance and the infrastructural facilities of this college and awarded B grade in 2005.
