About Institution

Rashoba is an institution working in the field of teacher education. It is an institution who can create the person you want to be. Our planning to create a person is supported by strategic vision, high mission and active creativity for achievement of goals. All this has been done and will continue to be done with the heavenly blessings of Seth Ramanand Bansal ji (4 Sept. 1924 - 25 Dec. 1986) and Smt. Shobha Devi Bansal (01 Jan. 1932- 03 Jan. 1997), in whose memory 'Shobha Devi Ramanand Bansal Foundation' was established in July 2005 & under whose flag Rashoba College of Education is working.

It is of great concern of all right thinking persons the world over as to why there is unrest, dissatisfaction, increase in diseases & low level of harmony while the intelligence level of an average person has increased. What we think is that acquired intelligence does not make a person to think freely, originally or reason indepedently. It seems that intelligence has not enriched the intellect. There seems to be no cause & effect relationship between intelligence & intellect.

We would like to narrate a true case which happened about 70 years ago in Madras High Court regarding a forged document claimed to be executed in 1930 . The lawyer defending the accused made an elaborate presentation covering practically all points of law. And when the opponent lawyer's turn came up, he requested the judge to merely put up the original document against the light. He beseeched, " Do you see a water mark in the document, my Lord ? " The justice cooperated, " Yes, I do see an elephant water mark." The lawyer rejoined, "This paper was manufactured in 1932." And the original document was dated 1930 ! of course, he had earlier obtained the proof of the manufacturer's watermark.

Our vision is to bring a positive change in society and a teacher becomes the harbinger of new world where a human being lives in complete harmony with his own self, with the environment, with other nations and with all the galaxies. Our vision is the creation of a world where human beings' potentials blossom to the fullest. Our vision is to make Rashobian understand and realize that physical boundaries may exist on earth but there should not be mental or attitudinal boundaries amongst human beings.

Our vision is to make pupil-teachers engineers of social change and the tool of this change is education.

Mission

At Rashoba we accomplish great and noble tasks & we also accomplish humble tasks as though they were great and noble. The world is moved along, not only by the mighty shoves of its heroes, but also by the aggregate of the tiny pushes of each honest worker. At Rashoba our mission is:

* To provide a conducive environment for the development of an individual's personality. We, at Rashoba, believe that performance has everything to do with an individual's desires and determination to excel thereby providing a platform to unleash the dormant faculties and talents within.
* To encourage pupil-teachers to appreciate the natural and artistic realms of life.
* To grasp and imbibe the complexity of moral issues while at the same time recognize the significance of technology in the growth of human civilization.
* To understand and appreciate human differences in culture, gender and race while at the same time cherish the Indian value system with a laid emphasis on the Indian culture, traditions and heritage, imbibing the best of the west and at the same time remaining true to our own cultural, scientific and technological golden past.
* To have unflinching faith in the potential of pupil-teachers and to ignite their minds to develop the positive convictions while discarding those that hold them back.
