Our College, one of the oldest College of Howrah District, established in 1946,1st August by Late Panchanan Chongdar of Howrah in memory of his father Late Ramsaday Chongdar has been named as Ramsaday College. This College is the fulfilment of a virtuous dream of Panchanan Chongdar.The College building, which is now being expanded to meet the demands for additional space and for modernisation, is situated on the bank of the river Damodar at Amta about 1/2 k.m. from Amta Bus Stand, Howrah. It is accessible by all forms of public transport.
Ramsaday College, affiliated to University of Calcutta, is the second oldest rural college of Howrah District. It has an illustrious tradition which contributes to its very own culture. It was established on 1 st August of 1946 under the visionary leadership of educationist Late Panchanan Chongdar. It was he who wanted to spread education and 'Utility of Education' among the poor and backward people of the society. He advocated the concept of empowerment of women. The college had a very humble beginning with a handful of students starting their classes is a few rooms. However today's picture is one of complete transformation. Struggle is still there but is no more a simple struggle for survival but rather a constant endeavour to attain excellence.

our mission is to shape our students into smart, responsible and sincere citizens through both material and moral education. Considering the changing scenario, we are also very keen to introduce different types of traditional and non-traditional courses and vocational training in our institution to ensure their future and free them from the bondage of proverty and unemployment. We have also our dream to save our student from any kind of material and moral degradation by rendering both moral and ethical education. There have been a great deal of probability and prosperity of our instution and it holds all shorts of necessary potentiality for rendering itself into a leading academic institution of Howrah District.
