Muhammed Abdurahiman Memorial Orphanage College is a first grade aided college of Arts, Science and Commerce, affiliated to the University of Calicut. It was started in the year 1982 as a junior college offering only Pre-degree courses. Later, it was upgraded as a Degree College in 1991 and as a first grade college in 2002. The College is situated in a rural area, Mokkam, in Kozhikode District, 30km away from Calicut city. The people in and around Mokkam Panchayath were educationally, socially and economically backward, and most of them belong to the backward community and scheduled caste. They were not in a position to acquire higher education. Hence, to overcome this grim situation, the founders of Mokkam Muslim Orphanage Committee came forward to start an institution for higher learning. Presently, there are 26 educational institutions under the Orphanage Committee.
