Tamilnadu Irrigation Management Training Institute (IMTI), is one among the eleven Institutions set up in the country with financial assistance from USAID (United States Agency for International Development) under Water Resources Management and Training Project was established on 1st April, 1984.
To impart training to the in service personnel serving in the Department of Public Works, Agricultural Engineering and Agriculture.
To increase agricultural productivity, rural income, development of the human resources, and their efficiency in managing system with farmers participation.
To conduct Action Research in a live irrigation system in with farmers participation.
To motivate the farmers to form Water Users' Associations (WUA)
