About Institution

This institute was established in August 1983 by the Government of Gujarat under Directorate of Technical Education of Gujarat state to promote Technical Education. Initially two programmes were launched, namely Diploma in Civil Engineering and Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with an intake capacity of 30 seats in each programme. Later on in 1989, Diploma programme in Electrical Engineering was launched. Government Polytechnic, Jamnagar is located at Valsura Road, Jamnagar, 6 kms away from S.T. Bus stand, 2 kms away from Railway station and 15 kms away from Air Port. Jamangar is one of the fastest developing city of Gujarat. Big industries like Reliance Industries Ltd., Essar Industries Ltd. and nos. of Brass works factories are located at Jamnagar and its surrounding areas.
