Government first grade college Uppinangady affiliated to Mangalore University owned by government of Karnataka. This college started on 22. 07.1982. This College aims at providing higher education to the rural poor innocent student residing in Puttur TQ, Dakshina Kannada. This college has educated many students, who have settled in and hold in the society. Presently GFGC Uppinangady is headed by the able leadership of Dr. Subrahmanya K. Government first grade college Uppinangady came into existence in 1982 as first Grade - College catering to the educational needs of economically and socially backward sections of Dakshina Kannada District. Today, housing major faculties with over a hundreds of students, this Institution continues not only to uphold the founding objectives but also endeavors to keep steps with the moving times.

Located in the Puttur TQ, Uppinangady near to Bangalore - Mangalore highway, this institution with its highly secular credentials and affordable fee structure serves as a boon to students from all walks of life, not only from D.K. but also from the neighboring Districts. Now, We are poised to look at our achievements and drawbacks and through this introspection hope to strive towards quality enhancement. It is through assessment and accreditation by NAAC that we hope to be guided towards academic betterment. The self-assessment report has been prepared after taking in to account the authentic guidelines of the UGC and three C's of Management (Cooperation, Coordination, Collaboration).
