About Directorate of technical education & industrial training punjab

The Department of Technical Education & Industrial Training was created on 10.06.77 in its present form after detaching the Technical Education Wing from the Department of Punjab, P.W.D. (B&R) and detaching the Industrial Training Wing from the Department of industries thereby bringing both the wings under one umbrella though each of these two Wings are more than 50 years old.

DTE Building

The Technical Education Wing of Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training has been entrusted with the responsibility of looking after Post Graduate, Degree and Diploma level Institutions in Engineering, Pharmacy, Management, Architecture and Hotel Management in the State of Punjab. The main regulatory bodies for these Institutions are All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), Architecture Council of India (ACI) and National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology (NCHMCT).

To meet the global competition, new courses like Food Technology is introduced at Diploma Level Institutes.

To achieve the vision of the state, it is envisioned to:
Create need based human resource skill pool in the state.
Make every willing and able person in the State employable or employed.
Keep close Linkage with Industrial Organizations for continual improvement in skill development & placement activities.
Create awareness & easy Access to training schemes & related services to the trainees/citizens.
Achieve the State & National targets for skilling, up skilling & re skilling of the persons in the state.
Provide placement through gainful employment/wages to the skilled manpower of the state.
To improve quality of Industrial Training by investing in infrastructure and faculty, promoting academic reforms and improving governance of the institutes.
