Dhanamanjuri College of Teacher Education (DMCTE), Imphal got its’ birth from the first ever Education Department of the erstwhile D. M. College, in 1952. In 1972, after Manipur got its statehood on 21st January 1972, it enjoyed a separate existence as Teacher Training College, and later on it was renamed as Post Graduate Training College on 15th September 1972.
Acclaimed as one of the top B. Ed College in India by Indian Education.com, the D. M. College of Teacher Education was upgraded to the level of College of Teacher Education (CTE), as a token of recognition from National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE), New Delhi in 1997. It is the only government Teacher Education College in Manipur with efficient and experienced faculty members.
The College is imparting teacher education both to B. Ed and M. Ed students. The intake capacity for the B. Ed course determined by NCTE is 230 and that of M. Ed is 25.
Every classroom has a provision for carrying out transactions through electronic media. One classroom is fitted with complete public address system.
To educate teacher trainees of the state to develop positive attitude, understanding, interest, and skills in dealing with child’s problem, towards teaching profession and broader outlook, so as to excel in their profession.
2. To guide teacher trainees develop understanding of the relationships of child’s life with the school work and of Society with school; school organization for enabling them to face the challenges of the changing scenario of the world.
3. To train both the in-service school teachers as well as pre-service would be teachers to develop competency of teaching and professional consciousness with an understanding of the aims and objectives of education in the interest of the nation.
4. To help teachers trainees able to use various teaching techniques, device, methods, Medias, effective communications and evaluation techniques.
5. To sensitize teacher trainees about democratic secular approach on the basis of Delor Commission to teach students for healthy society of tomorrow.
