College of Law for Women, Andhra Mahila Sabha, is the only privately managed Law College for women in Andhra Pradesh. The Andhra Mahila Sabha established the College in 1991 in memory of Padmavibhushan Dr.(Smt). Durgabai Deshmukh, who championed the cause of women, and secured equal rights to women, both in law courts and in law making, notably as a member of the Constitution Drafting Committee. A.M.S. Law College, imbued with her deep sense of commitment, has been trying to prepare batch after batch of young women lawyers to carry forward her mission to achieve the stupendous task of emancipation of women, still groaning under various kinds of disadvantages, even 60 years after attaining political independence. The College is guided by age-old tradition of academic excellence and freedom of inquiry and respect of individual viewpoints. It is committed to advance the understanding and development of law through an analysis of what the letter says but also what the spirit of law aims at. The objective is to prepare students to achieve professional success through leadership and service to others. The College is running through a dedicated Faculty who trains the students to be a good, ethical Lawyer, teaches Law in its social context apart from principles. Apart from teaching, the faculty actively participates in different National and International Seminars by presenting their thoughts and by Publication of their articles in esteemed Legal Journals.
