About California Beach Volleyball Association

Volleyball has been played on California beaches since the 1930’s. The CBVA has long been recognized as the authority on beach volleyball rules.In the past several years many other organizations have developed outdoor
volleyball programs. These organizations include the AVP, WPVA, FIVB,and USAV. The CBVA has worked with representatives of these various organizations to develop a single set of rules for outdoor volleyball.Although we have not completely standardized all rules, we have come a long way.
