About Institution

The Vivekanand Education Society started its educational activities in 1962 with only 256 students in a High School. The society celebrated its golden jubilee in the year 2013. The society has flourished by many folds in these 50 years. The excellent and affordable educational conglomeration of institutions, more than 26 colleges, schools and other centers having students strength of 17112 with faculty/ teaching staff of 633 and non-teaching staff numbering to 320 under VES umbrella. The society imparts education down from nursery to Graduation, Post-graduation, Ph. D. and Research under highly talented ranking qualified competent faculties. The Hashu Advani Memorial Complex accommodates the Engineering, Pharmacy and Management colleges affiliated to University of Mumbai and separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. The society also plans to add new courses in collaboration with foreign universities.

Principal, DR. (MRS.) SUPRIYA SHIDHAYE has been awarded the 54th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress Trust National Awards 2012-13- Research Project of the Year on 11th October, 2014.

DR. RAKESH SOMANI, HOD, Dept. of Pharm. Chem. has been awarded IDMA award on 10th January, 2015 for Best Research Article in the Field of Pharmaceutical Chemistry for the publication in the Indian Drug January, 2014 (Vol. 51 (01)) entitled ‘Synthesis of Some Novel 1, 2, 4 I-Triazole Analogues as Potential Anti-Tubercular Agents’.

Collaboration with National Institute

The grant has been sanctioned of ? 34,00,000/- on the research project entitled ‘Design & Evaluation of Novel formulation of some anti-cancer drugs for metronomic chemotherapy’ for a bioneubator, viz., Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology under ‘Biotechnology Ignition Grant’, BIRAC, Govt. of India. Student Achievements

?Participation and achievement in co-curricular activities

M. Pharm. students attended the one day seminar and celebration of ‘Techcrunch-2014’ on theme’ Frontiers in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Discovery’ at H. K. College of Pharmacy on 27th September, 2014. They also participated in the poster competition, Mrs. Deepali Gangrade was the co-author for the posters presented, VESCOP students grabbed the Second Prize.

Students also participated in AVISHKAR 2014 held at BNCP College of Pharmacy on 18.10.14 and presented a poster under the guidance of Dr. Rakesh Somani & Mrs. Sonali Munj.

19th Annual National Convention of Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India was organized at Shri. Shiv Chatrapati Sports Complex, Balwadi Pune, Maharashtra on 28th - 30th November, 2014. Students participated and presented papers under the guidance Dr. (Mrs.) Supriya Shidhaye & Dr. Rakesh Somani.

Udan Festival - part of Continuing Education Programme: 136 Students participated in poster competition, out of which 02 students won prizes - Ms. Anura Gawade for poster on “Child labour” & Ms. Sneha Salian “Marine Biology”. Also VESCOP students won First Prize for skit present on “Child Labour” by Mr. Bhavya Haria Final year B. Pharm.
