Late Shri Banwari Lal Matanhelia, the inspiring soul was the founder President of VIKAS BHARTI SCHOOL. He devoted his life for the welfare of the society and did pioneering work to plan and execute programmes for social upliftment like educational institutions of excellence, home of down trodden etc. either alone or in association with like minded people.
He was associated with several schools & colleges and one of them became the milestone namely Institute Of Technology & Management (ITM).
“The aim of education is the knowledge not of fact, but of values’ VIKAS BHARTI SCHOOL was founded on 1st July 1995.
It is run by a trust called VIKAS BHARTI. Vikas Bharti School was meant to provide the youth of the country with an opportunity to get an all-round education based on an adaptation of the English public school system of India’s tradition-enriched soil.
Although rich in cultural and traditional heritage and in natural resources, the Purvanchal region, the land of Shaivite sage Guru Gorakhnath and the land of Kabir, is one of the backward areas in the country. In today’s age of scientific advancement and information technology, this region still lags behind. For long, the thought of a real public school, which could cater to the needs of Purvanchal and could afford quality education to the children of Purvanchal, North-Eastern provinces, Bihar, Nepal, Bhutan as well as other foreign countries had lingered in the minds of a few visionaries who ultimately embarked on the project of establishing such school. The only school of its kind in the region is the fruit of their VISION and perpetual toil.
Vikas Bharti School is a non-profit co-educational, residential public school It is an organ of Vikas Bharti Society, which was constituted on June 30, 1992 by 23 leading personalities of Gorakhpur. The society was formally registered on July 3, 1992 and the project of the school was taken up for execution on December 20, 1993. The foundation for the school was laid on June 19, 1994. On July 4, 1995 academic activity started in the school. On September 27, 1995 the foundation stone for the first hostel of the school, was laid and the school compound was named Bhartipuram. The concerted efforts of the management, the principal along with the faculty and the perseverance of the students have brought many proud and glorious moments to the school.
The primary objectives of the school is to provide for and otherwise promote education in the fields of Science, Humanities and Commerce and to collate and disseminate in such fields effective ideas, methods, techniques and information’s likely to promote the material and cultural welfare of India and to train young boys and girls to be able and to be eager to create and put into action such ideas, methods, techniques and information. Owing to the expertise of the founding Principal Shri N. P. Painuli on account of his twenty five years long experience in various responsible positions at The Doon School, the school has been successful in adopting all salient features of a true public school.
