St. Joseph’s College, Moolamattom, founded in 1981, is an Arts and Science College affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala, India. The College is a noble venture of St. Joseph’s Province, Kottayam, of the C.M.I. Congregation, an educational agency known for its unfading vision and mission, in the filed of higher education. The motto, on the crest, chosen for the college, “Truth Liberates” neatly sums up the aim of the College. It aims at liberating the younger generation from the darkness of ignorance by leading them into the light of truth which knowledge provides. The purpose of education is the cultivation of the head and the heart of the young and St. Joseph’s College, makes an earnest effort in this direction. The institution endeavours to inculcate human values in the minds of the young, a deep faith in God, love for their fellow men and devotion for the mother land. This College lays great stress on academic excellence and self-discipline. St. Joseph’s College, Moolamattom was started as a junior college, affiliated to the University of Kerala in 1981 with just two arts batches for the pre-degree course.

Now the college provides for the study of six UG courses such as B.Sc. Chemistry, B.A. Economics, BBM, B.Sc. Physics (V) Applied Electronics, B.A. English (V) Copy Editor and B.Com. with Computer and three PG courses such as M.Sc. Chemistry, M.A. Economics & MSW (Medical & Psychiatric Social Work, Community Development, Child & Family Welfare). The college has also a Research Department in Chemistry.We have well equipped laboratories for the science courses and a computerized Library.The college is well reputed for academic excellence and discipline. Our institution is blessed with a team of dedicated teachers who take great delight in moulding the future generation. The ambience the college provides, with the beautiful ranges of mountains all around, where rain and snow play hide and seek, where ravines and rivulets flow zig zag, is certainly conducive for study and all round development.
