The key challenge of India is to rapidly provide its illiterate rural population with opportunities to become literate and to develop basic and useful thinking, application and problem-solving skills, which can be effectively deployed to raise productivity, entrepreneurship, and standard of living in the country.

India has developed a few world-class institutes of higher learning, such as IITs, IIMs and Medical Colleges, they are isolated from the larger community and society. Most of their graduates go to western countries to live and work, thus providing a valuable supply of intellectual capital of west. The illiterate population in India is estimated to be over 400 million of which 75% live in rural areas. Of the literate population, a significant proportion lack basic vocational skills and training. The ‘top heavy’ elitist structures of Indian Education has left a weak and tottering foundation, which if not strengthened quickly, will become a huge drag on the social and economic development of the country.

This challenge can be faced only through the best performance of teachers. There is a significant shortfall in the quantity & quality of teachers available.

Among these available teachers, they have little understanding of how to spark creativity in children. Quality teachers are missing link in Indian Education. To offer good teaching practice for the future teachers M/s. Krishnasamy Educational Trust was established. “The destiny of the nation is shaped within the four walls of the classroom” - According to this saying, the main objective of this trust is to serve the nation by producing dedicated teachers. Imparting the knowledge to the future teachers is not only for their career preparation but also to make them prepare the best citizens of India in the classroom.

This trust has created a college for teacher education programme named as “Sri Kalaivani College of Education”. The aim of this educational institution is “education for excellEnce”. Sri Kalaivani College of Education aims at imparting a sound vision of Indian culture,ethics, values and spiritual principles in a modern idiosm to the youth by employing a scientific and national approach.Human excellence must inspire our youths so that on entering a college or a university, they will learn the need and technique of seeking excellence in different fields according to their capacity. Excellence is the correct prescription for India today.
