Sri Adichunchanagiri has a history that goes back to the mythological period. The mutt at Adichunchanagiri is a mutt with a difference, It has a folk tradition and is basically serving the interest of peasant community of south Karnataka Thus the mutt is unique in its cultural heritage and traditions .
Sri Adichunchagiri Trust was established in Order to eater to the dire need for education felt by the People of the area. With the blessing of the mutt. Which took up the leadership of cultural rejuvenation of the farmer community, various educational institutions were established. As a sequel to this, SriAdichunchagiriFirstGradeCollege was established in Channarayapatna.
Sri Sri Sri Balagangadharanatha Swamiji the Chairman and the Patron of the College took up the reigns of the mutt 1974 In this Short span and under his leadership the mutt Which was almost unknown has grown up into a giant Culture centre of the Powerful Vokkaliga Community of the State. Under Swamiji Leader Ship the mutt expanded its horizons serving almost all the downtrodden communities.
His Vision and foresight made higher education accessible to interior rural centers. Today his name has become a byword in May families of Karnataka who have been able to come to the main stream escaping their marginalized status. Sri Swamiji has established 13 different trusts to serve different causes and sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana is one among them.
Sri H.C .Srikantaiah .the Honorable Revenue Minister Government of Karnataka was the chairman of the management of the institutions established by the trust in channarayapatna he was a dynamic and senior leader of the people. His vast experience in the management of man and resources has helped in growth of all the institutions. His like for the downtrodden and the marginalized as well as his immense love for the people has been translated into bring higher education to the town of channarayapatana
