About Institution

People’s College Buguda in the district of Ganjam, established in the year 1978 under the dynamic leadership of its President of the Governing Body Late Sri Kali Charan Nayak of B. Karadabadi, is a symbolic representation of the active involvement and dedication of the local public of Buguda and people of nearby area for the cause of spreading higher education in and around the locality. The seed which was planted by late Sri Nayak was given shape on 30-07-78 By Hon’ble Sri Nilamani Routray, Ex-chief Minister of Orissa in the presence of Sri Ananata Narayan Singhdeo and Dr. Trinath Rath, Ex Vice- Chancellor of Berhampur University.
The College was affiliated to Berhampur University with 128 seats, in I.A and 64 seats in I.Com, in the year 1979. Consequent upon the creation of council of Higher Education, Orissa it was affiliated to CHSE in the year 1984 due to pressing demand of the public, +2 Science was introduced and got affiliation in 1985.
In the year 1988 due to the initiation of the staff, students and the members of Governing Body degree class was introduced and the college was affiliated to Berhampur University from 1988 after getting concurrence from the Govt. from the session 1988-89.
The College has also privilege to impart instruction in +3 sciences from the session 1994-95 with PCM and CBZ combinations. Honours course in History, Economics, Pol Science and Oriya were introduced from the session 1992-93, Bot. and Chem. from the session 2004-05.
We owe our gratitude to our beloved M.L.A of Jagannath Prasad Sri Madhabananda Behera, for his untiring effort for the all round development of the college. His contribution has therefore a special place in the history of the development of the college.
It is needless to mention that due to the involvement of the staff of this college, the college has unique achievement over the years in academic and other allied spheres.
