Every year Aug 12th is celebrated as International Youth Day since 2000. The purpose of the day is to draw attention to a given set of cultural and legal issues surrounding youth. It is an opportunity for Governments and others to think about the issues facing young people around the globe. Youth stands as a future of every nation so their dreams and innovation must be valued.

The 2015 International Youth Day theme is “Youth Civic Engagement”. Encouraging greater civic engagement of young people pays tribute to the role that youth play in social change. The main goal is to encourage the involvement of young people in civic engagement. The engagement and participation of youth is essential to achieve sustainable human development.

To empower young people and bring their contribution to the society, development and peace, participation of youth in politics and public life have to be encouraged. More efforts are needed to raise awareness about the importance of youth civic engagement and its benefits to the individual and to society for sustainable development.
