With winters approaching fast, many schools in Srinagar are left with a limited window for teaching and completion of the courses by October 2016 for class XII students who have to appear in board examinations in March 2017. The students have missed classes due to the law and order situation in the city.

Special arrangements for students have been made by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in schools in Srinagar affected due to curfews, law & order problems and disruptions in normal life. Retired teachers will be engaged to teach class XII students in five affiliated schools.

As per the statement of Ministry of HRD, the board has decided to arrange for subject teachers for all five schools in the valley which may take help after assessing respective need, taking suo moto cognizance of the requests received from the schools. The schools had written to the board for intervention as the classes will come to an end in October for winter.

It further stated that the board is making efforts to engage and depute retired teachers from other parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Pathankot, Chandigarh and has even written to Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan for the same till the resumption of regular classes again. The schools will rope in these former teachers after assessing their respective needs.
