Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) is organizing the Education Conference on "Reforming & Rejuvenating The Higher Education" on 29th November 2016 (Tuesday), Hotel Hilton (Guindy), Chennai.

FICCI has been organizing the FICCI Higher Education Summit since 2004 with the support of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India at the National level. However at the Tamil Nadu State Council they are keen to project Tamil Nadu as an "Education Hub" by organizing this Conference with the theme of "Reforming & Rejuvenating the Higher Education".

FICCI-Tamil Nadu State Council in its endeavor to promote the Education Sector in the State is organizing an important conference on Higher Education – 2016, aiming to bring stakeholders from education together on one platform and deliberate policies pertaining to the growth of this sector. FICCI – Tamil Nadu State Council has announced that the 2nd Edition of FICCI's Higher Education Conference 2016 will be held on 29th November 2016 at Hotel Hilton, Guindy, Chennai.

We now live in a world that is far more inter-connected and inter-dependent than ever before. The current global challenges require innovative solutions, which can be realized through close cooperation between higher learning institutions across the world. With the initiation of globalization, engineering educators essentially feel the need to better prepare engineers for the globalized economy. There has to be a paradigm shift in conceptualization of human learning and to adapt the whole range of new generation pedagogy to educate millions with quality.

It is universally agreed that the quality of an educational institution is determined by the quality of students it attracts, the quality of faculty it attracts and finally, the quality of research it produces. Technical education in India contributes a major share to the overall education system and plays a vital role in the social and economic development of our nation. In India, technical education is imparted at various levels such as degree, diploma, PG and research in specialized fields catering to the various aspects in technological development and economic progress.

This will pave way for improving the quality and global relevance of higher education in Tamil Nadu. Higher Education in India suffers from various quality deficits such as improving the quality of teaching-learning in a majority of non-elite universities and colleges, improving equity and access, enhancing the focus on research & innovation and ensuring employability of students.

The deliberations at the Conference will provide an opportunity for interaction and networking among different stakeholders like Principals, Directors, Deans, Senior Faculty Members, Industry Leaders, Representatives, Engineering Education Leaders, Institutions of Higher Learning and Policy Makers to discuss strategies for addressing the issues.

Over 250 delegates from the leading Higher Educational Institutions, Academician, Government Officials, Policy Makers, Banks, Financial Institutions, Corporates & Industry representatives, Training Institutes, Infrastructure and IT companies providing technology products and services, NGOs, International Organizations & Associations, Embassies, High Commissions & Consulates and Other Stakeholders are expected to take part in this education conference.
