About Institution

Kodachadri government first grade College was established by the government on 16-08-1985. The college began from B.A and B.Com courses. The college, in the beginning started in two rooms belongs to municipality. Then it was shifted to primary school building. In the year 2002 the college shifted to its own new building. The college took affiliation from Kuvempu University to start BBM course in the year 2006 and B.Sc course during 2010. The building is 1.5 k.m away from Hosanagara town.
Hosanagara is a taluk of Shimoga, Karnataka State. It is situated in western part of Shimoga district in the south Indian state of Karnataka abuts Dakshina Karnataka. It is about 325 k.m from Bangalore city and 70 k.m from Shimoga. This is mofuss’ll area with purely rural background. This taluk measure is an area of 1417 square k.ms. There is an annual average rainfall of 2,650 m.m. According to 2011 census the population of the taluk is 1,75,000.
Hosanagara means if we unfold we will get the meaning Renaissance, formed after the drowning of the old city in the back water of the Sharavathy. Due to the scarification of these people who lost their land and properties for the State empowering through generating hydroelectric power at Linganamakki.
Hosanagara has a rich historical importance. Keladi ruler ruled this place with glory and pride. This taluk consists many holy places like Humcha, a village where great saint Augustya once meditated. The Kodachadri hill was an asylum to Shankaracharya. There is an Ashrama Sri Ramachandrapura matt 7 k.m away from Hosangara town which is famous for Cow Nursing.
Hosanagara creates its own literary personalities, Scholars and great creative workers like TurangaBharata of Sri Paramadeva and Harishcandra Kavya of Devata Ramayya. The institution is conducting programs in association with NINASAM, a National level Drama Theatre
