About Institution

Kashipur Michael Madhusudan Mahavidyalaya is situated in a natural and open ambience of a panchaet samity, named Kashipur in the district of Purulia,(W.B.) about 7 km away from Adra Railway Station. It was the 26th day of September, 2000 when the college was established in the name of the great Bengali poet Michael Madhusudan Dutta (1824–1873) who joined as legal advisor of Raja Nilmoni Singhdeo of Panchakote Raj in September, 1872 and then he was appointed as treasurer of the estate.

In the year 2000, the college got its initial approval from the University of Burdwan. The college has attained a glorious height in the field of education in the very decade of its establishment. In the year 2000 the college received approval for its degree courses in Humanities by virtue of the efforts of the Government of West Bengal. In the 2005-06 academic session, the college began its journey in Bio-Science stream also.

In October, 2003, the college was registered to receive Central assistance in terms of Rules framed under Section- 2 (f) and 12 (B) of the U.G.C. Act, 1956.
