About Institution

Established since 1860, Gujarat College is one of the oldest institution in the state of Gujarat. Located in the heart of the city, Ahmedabad, with a sprawling campus and Victorian architectural buildings, its Arts and Science faculties closely knit the college. It's reputation for outstanding achievements is known world-wide and reflects the intellectual achievement of the students. Institute has 30 Acres (12.14 hectors) of land right in the center of city and within the hub city of educational and research institutes of national & international repute like PRL, IPR, IIAR, NIFT, NID, ISRO, IIM, ATIRA, amidst universities like CEPT, Gujarat University, Pt. Deendayal Petroleum University, Nirma University, Babasaheb Ambedkar University, Gujarat Forensic Science University and IGNOU , P.G.Department of Electronics.

At present the college houses 12 departments of Arts faculty, 8 departments of science and a full time degree course in drama. The institute is also having separate buildings for office, library, hostel, gymkhana, canteen, residence for principal, rector, wardens and staff; State Bank of India branch, and Cooperative societies. The institute runs 21 undergraduate courses in all. The institute has a student section to look after admission, registration, examinations, scholarships and other associated activities. The college installed multiple high-speed internet connections for every buildings. We have ambicious plan to update laboratory facilities and resume post-graduate courses also from the next academic term. The college is recognized under section 2 (f) and 12B of the UGC Act 1956 and is entitled to receive grants from Governments and its funding agencies including the University Grants Commission, New Delhi. The college was accredited by NAAC scoring grade 2.72 on four point scale.

It shall be the honest endeavor of the faculties of the college to inculcate a vision among its students to pursue art education not merely for pleasure or for profession, but as sister concern of religion and culture of our state and the country.
