The Government College, Tripunithura is the reality of the long cherished dreams of the public of Tripunithura Municipality and the neighboring Panchayats. The indefatigable endeavour of the sponsoring Committee headed by Sri A. G. Raghava Menon (President ) and Sri A. O. Raphel (Secretary) with the able guidance and support of Sri K.G.R. Kartha then Minister for Health, Government of Kerala and Tripunithura Municipality, was materialized and the college started functioning in the academic year 1982-83 with III and IV groups of Pre-degree Course at R. L. V. U. P. School. The College was formally inaugurated on 30th January 1983 by Sri K. Karunakaran, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala at a special function presided over by Sri T, M, Jacob, Hon’ble Minister for Education, Government of Kerala. Subsequently the college was shifted to the premises of Government Boy’s High School, Tripunithura. From the academic year 2005-0, the college has been housed In the new building at the permanent site of the college at Mekkara, Tripunithura. The college was shifted to the University of kerala during 1982-83. Now the college is affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University.
