he Govt. Physical Education College for Women, Hooghly, was setup, 8th August, in the year 1984, with twenty studuents. It is situated at Chawkbazar, Chinsurah, on the bank of holy river Ganga 1.5 km. from Hooghly Ghat Raliway Station and from Bandel Rly, station 3 km. It is well connected by rail, road and river. A descent pollution free environment with lot of greenary has added beauty to the premises.

It is affiliated to the University of Burdwan and recognised by National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE). Shri Motin Roy was the first Officer-in-charge and Dr. Shyamal Mazumader has joined as first Principal of this collrge in the year 2 March 2006.

Historical Bandal Church, Immambarah, (Govt.) School, (where renowned novel Writer Sir Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay was a student) are all situated nearby.

We offer One(1) year, Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) Degree Course with all necessary infrastructure.

The college are pround to have aluminies serving as Physical Education Teacher in school and colleges throughout the country.
