The Mid-Day meal scheme in Karnataka was failed when it is tested. Almost 26 percent of the mid day meal samples in Karnataka tested in 2015-2016 fail the test. At least twenty three food samples that were tested six were found to be below average. The three food samples in Kolar district were found to have E-coli in both the sambar and cooked rice, and unfit for human consumption.
