DJHSS has some 2,300 students and 60 staff. It is a government aided school largely funded by the Tamil Nadu State Government, which pays the teachers' salaries. This enables the school to serve the educational requirements of the needy by offering education for a nominal fee. The school students had access to computers as early as the mid eighties. DJHSS was one of the early schools adopted English medium education in the rural south India. English medium curriculum was introduced in the year 1976. Mahatma Gandhi visited the school during the year 1927. During 100th year celebration of the school, the old "H" shaped building was demolished for the construction of new building. A pot of treasure was found under that building. It contained newspaper which is 100th years old saying the opening of school, very rare coins used and few more docs. When this new building was built, same kind of informative notes were installed in the building for future students.
At DJHSS School we provide a stimulating and safe learning enironment with innovative and responsive teaching across the curriculum. We aim to maximise individual potential and through our core values, ensure all students are empowered to meet the challenges of education, work and life in a rapidly changing global environment.
