The multivolume book of Reginald Heber, the late Bishop of Calcutta, gives a lucid account of his journey from Calcutta to Bombay during 1824-1825. The principal object of this journal is to apprise its readers of the nature and extent of the duties performed by him along with the difficulties he encountered when he held the high office of presiding over the Indian Church.This journal is written in the shape of a diary and comprises of his correspondence with the Editor and, at the same time, includes his letters written to his friends in England. As part of diocese, the author has also recorded his recollections, aided by the Editor's journal, in regard to his first visitation in Ceylon where he stayed for a period of five weeks.The book reverberates with the rich experiences of the Author's Bishoporic duties and is pregnant with his impression about Indian life and Indian religions.
