It is very important for a business to devise/adopt and implement new strategies for advancement and expansion. Creative and innovative approaches are essential for any business to attain sustainable competitive advantage. R&D plays an important role in the development or evolution of new strategies. To deliberate over such related issues, a national conference on 'Business Strategies and Economic Growth: The Way Forward' was organised on 17–18 February, 2012 by the Department of Management Studies, Poornima Group of Colleges, Jaipur, in collaboration with J K Lakshmipat University, Jaipur.This book is an outcome of the papers presented during the conference. The main theme of the conference was a focus on various functional areas such as Finance, HR, Marketing and Information Technology. The main objective of the conference was to provide a platform for exploring new ideas and concepts in the emerging fields of Finance, HR, Marketing and Information Technology with a view to examining impact thereof and evolving strategies that can be successfully employed in different dimensions of business. It was an initiative to bridge the gap between the industry and academia and develop an understanding of challenges and new strategies for meeting the needs and expectations of business and economy.The highlight of the book is the categorisation of research papers in sub-themes to facilitate participation and discussion among authors and participants in the conference. Efforts have been made to analyse the topics covered in the sub-themes from different perspectives. Various techniques of analysis such as empirical studies, case studies, surveys, exploratory studies, etc. have been used, making it a scientific read. The papers presented in this book caters to the requirements of a wide variety of readers – students, managers, academicians, researchers, and management practitioners – for gainful insights, further analysis and wider dissemination of knowledge.
