How technology can really help to improve education?

The world's education sector is reportedly on the verge of an education revolution, where the instructions become more individualized, more personal and more data-driven. Despite the challenges of incorporating technology in schools, colleges and universities, the education technology (EdTech) revolution is imminent.

Several education experts believed that education technology is one of the major factors that can revolutionize the system of education in the United States. EdTech is also viewed as a key to bridge the learning equity gap, where poverty-stricken children or students could be provided with the same learning opportunities given to the middle class and wealthy kids.

So, how can education technology really transform education? According to WebProNews, EdTech can revolutionize education by concentrating on the learning progress, noting that the education system will be more effective at guiding students to the education goal they really want to reach.

In addition, education technology has also the power to provide "focused training" that will assist both educators and students toward a personalized education path. With technology, learning will be maximized as the change won't just be implemented on curriculums but will be individualized according to the needs of the students as well as their passion zones.

Through education technology, educators and administrators won't be measuring the progress of each student based on standardized test scores. But with the comparison of measurable data, both the progress of students and the education system in general will be evaluated.

Education technology, however, is far from perfect. While EdTech's personal, individualized and data-driven approach can revolutionize education, the implementation, management and maintenance of EdTech for most K-12 educational systems has been strikingly challenging.

As a matter of fact, The Journal outlined that technology has the capacity to obscure learning while the utilization of education technology to teachers and students is often unreliable and opposed. Due to unsystematic implementation of technology on K-12 programs, EdTech's productivity benefits and educational developments were suppressed.

Fortunately, several studies have proven that technology can make a constructive and encouraging influence on educational performance. When education technology is systematically implemented, it can provide and support an extensive range of educational innovations such as peer-to-peer teaching, customized learning and flipped classrooms.

Despite the benefits of education technology, University Herald reported that investing too much on EdTech doesn't seemed quite a wise decision to make, citing the issue on the effectiveness of the personal, individualized and data-driven approach. As educational institutions continue to match the pace of technology's agile advancements, EdSurge noted that mastery and competency are significant in evaluating the effectiveness of EdTech, thus, making it a valuable investment.
