Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati born in 1960 in Rajnandgaon, Chhatisgarh, joined his guru’s mission of spreading yoga around the world at the tender age of four. When he was six years old he came to to live in the ashram in Munger with his Guru Swami Satyananda. Under the tutelage of Swami Satyananda, he received intense gurukul education and training and was educated in languages, scriptures, sciences and contemporary subjects through the system of yoga nidra developed by Swami Satyananda. At the age of ten he was initiated into the Dasnaami order of sannyas on 11th January 1971 at Munger, by his Guru Swami Satyananda and was sent out to tour the world as a bal sannyasin to spread the message of yoga. At the age of 22 he was recalled back to India to take up the mantle as President of Bihar School of Yoga from Swami Satyananda who gave him the full charge of the yoga mission that he had created and nurtured. 

In 1990, he was initiated in the tradition of Paramahamsa and in 1993 he was chosen as the successor of Satyananda. In 1993, he organised a World Yoga Convention on the occasion of the golden jubilee of the sannyasa of his guru. In 1994, he established Bihar Yoga Bharati as the centre for higher studies in the field of yoga. He found Yoga Publication Trust in 2000. At present he is the Paramacharya of Bihar Yoga Bharati (Institute for Advanced Studies in the Yogic Sciences) in Munger, Bihar. Niranjanananda appointed Surya Prakash as his successor, though the latter currently holds the administrative duties of the ashram, while Niranjanananda remains the spiritual guide. He is fluent in English, Hindi, Spanish, French and many more.

In addition to steering activities at Munger, he traveled extensively to guide seekers all around the world till 2009, when he received the command to embark on a new phase of sannyasa life. Author of many classic books on yoga, tantra and the Upanishads, Swami Niranjan is a magnetic source of wisdom on all aspects of yogis philosophy, practice and lifestyle. He ably combines tradition with modernity as he continues to nurture and spread his guru's mission from his base at Munger. Awarded highest civilian awards of the country, 'Padma Bhushan' in year 2017 for distinguished service of high order.
