Dwijen Mukhopadhyay is a singer and music director of India, who has been working in the field of music for the last six decades. He is an accomplished performer of Rabindrasangeet, Bengali basic songs, Bengali and Hindi film songs. He has recorded more than 1500 songs, of which about 800 are songs of Rabindranath Tagore. He has also directed music in Bengali feature films and composed music for popular Bengali basic songs. He was born on November 12, 1927 in Kolkata. He received training in music from Sushanto Lahiri, Pankaj Mullick, Santidev Ghosh, Santosh Sengupta, Anadi Ghosh Dastidar and Niharbindu Sen. He got associated with professional world of music in 1944. He recorded his first collection of basic Bengali songs in the year 1945. The following year he became an Artist of All India radio and also recorded his first disc with HMV. In 1974 he received BFJAâ??s Award for Best playback singer for the movie - Ban Palashir Padabali. In 2007 he received the prestigious S. D. Burman Award. Padma Bhushan in 2011 and Banga Bibhushan the following year are the major honours received by him. He is also a recipient of Sangeet Nataka Academy Award and Honorary Doctorate by Kalyani University, West Bengal.

He has also rendered his voice for a few popular compositions of Chaudhury which became extremely popular. "Ekdin Phire Jabo Chole", "Pallabini Go Sancharini", "Shyamal Barani Ogo Konya", "Klanti Name Go" etc to mention a few. He also recorded one song for Bollywood classic Madhumati - "Tan Jale Man Jalta Rahe". He also recorded songs for Bollywood films - 'Honeymoon' (1960), 'Maayaa' (1961), 'Sapan Suhaane' (1961) etc. A foremost artist of Rabindra Sangeet, he recorded maximum songs in this category. His devotional song 'Jaago Durga' is extremely popular in Bengal.
