"On September 28, 1997, the Ex-Loyola Alumni Network (ELAN) came into being when the name was formally accepted and adopted by the first Annual General Body meeting of ELAN. The earlier organization, Ex-Loyola Students Association (ELSA), had done stellar work for a decade and more, and just like its namesake lioness from the book and movie “Born Free” eventually needed to be set free into the wild. Accordingly, in 1997, ELAN took over the responsibilities of running an Alumni organization that was dedicated to the following ideals:
To promote networking between the Alumni of Loyola High School and to help ex-students and ELAN members in whatever way possible To put together the combined resources, talent and skills of the Alumni for the benefit of their Alma Mater – Loyola High School – and to give back to the school and the teachers who made the students the successes they are now.ELAN was well supported by the then principal of Loyola High School, Fr. Joe Palli, SJ, who provided ELAN with an office in the school premises, and also opened up limited memberships to the swimming pool for ELAN members. He further promised to consider making other facilities available as well.Since then ELAN has been going from strength to strength, recruiting new members from past batches, publishing an Alumni directory, helping retired teachers and past students as and when required, and raising money for deserving projects in the school. ELAN also organizes an Alumni get-together on the first Saturday of February every year and a lot of ex-students make it a point to attend that – many of them planning their travel to India accordingly. Over the years ELAN has been growing rapidly in terms of membership and now boasts of representation from 47 of the past 49 batches.
This year, ELAN is planning a grand celebration of the Golden Jubilee of the school and invites all ex-students to participate and make this event a grand success."
